Did you know that one of the key factors in healthy skin is a natural glow? In other words, when you take care of your skin, a natural and radiant glow will be the byproduct.
So today we’re going to share tips for glowy skin, and we’ll help you achieve naturally glowing skin from home – no expensive juices or facials are required.
What stops us from having glowing skin?
Things like lack of sleep, stress and what we eat can rob us of our naturally radiant complexions.
Let’s dive into healthy, glowing skin – and stick to the end because we’re sharing a healthy skin cocktail that you’re going to love.
Tips for Glowy Skin
First it’s important to understand that achieving glowy skin is more than just applying makeup, or using expensive skin care products. While there are plenty of guides out there to help you achieve a glowy look through makeup, this guide is going to help you take care of your skin from the inside out, starting with a healthy lifestyle.
Start by eating a diet rich in fruits, vegetables and whole grains, drinking plenty of water and getting enough sleep – these are all important facts that contribute to the overall health of your skin. In a recent guide we shared a super-hydrating water recipe that’s definitely going to be one of our tips for glowy skin here as well.
In addition to lifestyle habits, a good skincare routine is key to achieving glowy skin. This includes cleansing your skin daily, using a toner that helps balance your skin’s pH level, and applying a moisturizer to help hydrate and protect your skin.
It’s also important to exfoliate regularly to remove dead skin cells and promote cell turnover, which can help to reveal a brighter, more radiant complexion.
When it comes to choosing skincare products, you do not need to focus on the price tag. Look for skincare products that contain ingredients to help nourish and brighten your skin.
- Vitamin C is a powerful antioxidant that can help brighten and even out your skin tone
- Hyaluronic Acid can help hydrate and plump your skin
- Niacinamide (vitamin B3) which slows pigment production to lighten dark spots
- Retinol helps to reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, while also promoting cell turnover and improving your skin’s texture.
In addition to a solid skincare routine, there are several other steps you can take to achieve glowy skin. For example, using a facial oil or serum can help to nourish and hydrate your skin, giving it a healthy glow. You can also incorporate facial massage into your skincare routine to help stimulate blood flow and lymphatic drainage, which can help to reduce puffiness and promote a healthy, radiant complexion.
Finally, make sure that you are always protecting your skin from the sun. Sun damage can cause dark spots, wrinkles and a dull complexion – on top of much more harm that the sun can cause. It’s important to wear sunscreen daily to protect your skin from harmful UV rays. You can also choose a hydrating facial lotion with SPF, but make sure you’re applying products that are at least 30 SPF.
Glowy Skincare Routine
Now that we’ve covered tips to help you have glowy skin, let’s dive into a daily glowy skincare routine.
Step 1: Stay hydrated
The idea is to hydrate your skin from the inside out. Here’s a super drink to have every morning, that’s going to drastically improve your complexion and overall hydration throughout the day.
The Super Water Recipe:
- 12-16 oz of water
- A pinch of sea salt or pink Himalayan salt
- Approx. 1 tbsp of lemon juice, seeds strained out
- Approx. 0.5 – 1 tsp of chia seeds

Step 2: Get enough sleep
Lack of sleep will lead to tired-looking and dull skin. Try to get at least 7-8 hours of sleep each night to help your skin look its best. If you’re not sleeping enough, try our nighttime routine that’s going to help you wind down for more restful sleep.
Step 3: Cleanse regularly
Think of this as “clearing your canvas”. You want to start each day by thoroughly removing debris from your skin, like dirt, oil and pollution particles that clog your pores and cause dullness. Make sure to wash your face morning and night, and always use circular motions, working from the inside of your face, out.
Make sure that you’re using a gentle and natural cleanser that won’t dry your skin out or strip it of natural oils.

Step 4: Exfoliate
One of the best ways to boost your skin's natural glow quickly is by exfoliating. Exfoliating your skin helps to remove dead skin cells that make your skin look dull. Once again, make sure that you’re choosing a gentle and natural exfoliator, and do this step no more than 2-3 times a week.
Step 5: Moisturize
Did you know that when your skin is well moisturized, it reflects the light helping your skin to look glowy. The important thing about moisturizer that most people miss is that you need to do it every day – not just when your skin feels dry. Apply your moisturizer morning and night, when washing your face.
Step 6: Protect
Be sure to shield your skin from the sun – every day (even if it’s not sunny outside!) Use a broad-spectrum SPF 30+ facial sunscreen or day cream. Things like exfoliation can make your skin more prone to sun damage and dark spots.
Step 7: Use a face mask
Once a week you can boost your skin’s hydration and glowing look by applying a face mask.. Choose a hydrating face mask and let it soak into your skin. You can also try this homemade face mask from Joanna Vargas, to enhance your skin’s vibrance.
- 1/2 cup yogurt
- 1/2 cup mashed strawberry
- 1/4 cup honey
Simply mix all of the ingredients together in a bowl. Apply to your face and neck (avoiding your eyes) and leave on for 5 minutes.
Step 8: Eat a healthy diet
What you eat directly affects your skin – so make sure you’re eating a healthy diet that is rich in antioxidants. Incorporate things like grapes, berries and nuts (specially pecans and walnuts) into your diet for healthier, glowy skin. These foods are all rich in polyphenols such as ellagic acid and resveratrol.
Step 9: Exercise
Lastly, make sure that you’re exercising regularly. It might not be the first thing that comes to mind when you think of glowy skin… but exercise can help improve your blood flow and circulation, which gives your skin a healthy glow. Plus exercise can help with stress levels as well, and stress can definitely take a toll on your skin.
Take time to destress and exercise, even if it’s just taking a short walk every day.
Doing each of these things is definitely going to help you have beautiful, glowing skin each and every day. But what if you just want a quick boost to help you have glowing skin for an event or date? Before you go, we’ve got a glowy skin cocktail that you’re going to love.
