Being an entrepreneur can be a very stressful game. That’s why it’s essential to incorporate self care into your daily routine, whether you work from home or not. The better you take care of yourself, the more you’re going to be able to give to your business.
And yes, sometimes that means shutting up shop early and heading home for a recharge! But if you’re not yet convinced that self care can align with your business goals, here’s what you should think about.
Set Working Hours and Stick to Them
How long do you spend running your business? Probably a lot longer than you even realize. Some people can spend at least 12 hours trying to manage everything, and that can leave less than 4 hours to yourself at the end of the day. Remember, you’ve still got to get a good 8 hours of sleep at night too!
But if you’re going to practice self care on a regular basis, these 4 hours will need expanding. Try to turn it into 8 hours, or at the very least, squeeze an extra hour out of the schedule that can be dedicated to self care activities. That may mean having a ‘hard out’ at 5pm every single day, but it’ll be good for you.
Automate as Much as Possible
Automation is a great thing for an entrepreneur. You’re likely the only person working away at your company, and that means you’ve only got one set of 24 hours to get everything done within. That just won’t do! You’re going to need some help from time to time, and if you don’t have the resources to hire or outsource, technology can help.

Some things can be left until tomorrow, some can be left until next week, and some are never going to be tasks you have to rush. As such, if you have a to-do list that’s constantly being updated, make sure the list order reflects this. It’s OK to focus on yourself and that dentist appointment you’ve got on Friday – that’s actually a form of self care!
You can make your self care plans align with your business goals. You’ve just got to give yourself a break here and there, and always remember that your health comes before anything else.
